About the Role

The Senior Tax Accountant will play a key role in the finance function, overseeing day-to-day accounting operations and ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant financial reporting. The ideal candidate is a detail-driven self-starter who can work autonomously while partnering closely with management, external accountants, and other stakeholders. Strong experience across bookkeeping, reconciliations, payroll, BAS preparation, and month-end reporting is essential, along with a solid understanding of Australian accounting standards, tax obligations, and compliance requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage all tax lodgements and compliance obligations for the Australian entity, including BAS, PAYG, FBT, and income tax.
  • Oversee and/or process payroll for Australian employees, ensuring compliance with relevant awards and superannuation obligations.
  • Manage the calculation and payment of sales team commissions and referral partner payments.
  • Oversee accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring accurate, timely invoicing and collections.
  • Perform monthly bank reconciliations across all accounts.
  • Prepare and post month-end journals, including accruals, prepayments, and inter-company adjustments.
  • Monitor the company’s cash flow, forecasting short- and long-term requirements and ensuring liquidity for operational and strategic needs.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, providing variance analysis and insights into financial performance.
  • Support the leadership team with budgeting, forecasting, and strategic financial planning.
  • Ensure full compliance with Australian accounting standards, ATO requirements, and relevant financial regulations.
  • Develop and implement internal controls and process improvements to enhance accuracy and efficiency in financial operations.

Qualifications and Skills

  • 5+ years of experience as an Accountant. Exposure to the Australian market required.
  • Bachelors degree, CA or CPA qualification preferred.
  • Strong understanding of Australian accounting standards, tax laws, and reporting requirements as well the Philippines.
  • Proficient in the use of Xero, MYOB, BGL360 and Excel/Word
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills
  • Proven ability to effectively communicate financial information to both financial and non-financial stakeholders
  • Experienced in managing and developing high-performing finance teams
  • Comfortable working in a remote or hybrid work environment
